:: 35 before 35 - #7

I completed another off of my 35 before 35 list.
Yay!
This time it was #7.
I ran a Ragnar Relay
12 people, 203 miles, 24 hours.
We did the SoCal Ragnar and ran from Huntington Beach to Coronado in San Diego.
We each had 3 legs of running and I ran 4.6 miles, 4.7 miles, and then 6.4 miles.
It was definitely a challenge, but I'm so happy I did it.
{even if during my first leg, I told myself I'd never do this again - - at the end of the relay
I changed my mind and will definitely be doing it again}

We were sponsored by Arctic Zero {the yummy frozen dessert}
so our team was fittingly named Arctic Zero.
By the way, have you tried that stuff?
A pint for only 150 calories.
That sounds like my kind of dessert.
It's delicious!

After only 3.5 hours of sleep, eating and drinking a ton, baby wipe baths,
and becoming bff's with the porta potty,
I was the lucky one to run across the finish line.
I was excited to get it over with, especially since I knew that
my hubby and my girls would be waiting at the finish line.
It was definitely worth it to see their faces.

If you ever get an opportunity to do one, sign up!

We also had fun tagging cars with our Arctic Zero logo.
Don't worry, it was totally legal.

Come back tomorrow for a yummy giveaway!
{hint - ragnar sponsor . . .}

:: Ramblings

Meet my new Brooks.
I absolutely love them.
I've been running a lot lately to prepare for this here.
I'm nervous . . . excited . . . and, oh, just a little nervous.
Not to mention, I'm runner number 12 on my team (there are 12 of us)
which means I run the very last leg, so I'll be running across the finish line.
. . . with everyone watching me.
I don't like people watching me run.
Why?
Hmmmm.  Just look below.

We'll see how this goes.
200 miles, 24 hours, 12 runners.

Have you ran a Ragnar race before?
Any tips?

The dilemma?
What to wear for family portraits.
It's a love/hate relationship that I have.

Here are some inspiration boards I found.
Perfect for this spring.

:: Family Happenings - easter

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
We had a pretty good weekend.

And we didn't go out of town or anything, I've just been lazy
and busy with work.
But I'm back!

The girls loved coloring their easter eggs.
And had way too many easter egg hunts.

And then, last minute, I made their easter skirts.
I try to make outfits for them for Christmas and Easter (if it's not too crazy).
Easter sorta crept up on me this year.

{skirts: made by me, using amy butler fabric
 blouses: gap, $5 spring clearance}

:: Craigslist Find - computer armoire

I LOVE scouring craigslist.
I've bought a countless number of items from using that website and have saved a lot of money.

Well, one day last year, I was looking in the free section.
I came across a free computer armoire.
It was from the owner of a storage unit.
A man had bought the unit (anyone watch Storage Wars? - love it!)
took the stuff he wanted and then just gave the rest to the owner.
The owner wanted to get rid of it so he was giving it away on Craigslist.
He was also giving away a dresser that we brought home too - - I'll post about that soon.

It sat in our garage for awhile.
Wasn't sure what I would use it for.
Then I thought about using it as a clothing armoire for the girls' room.
And I turned their walk-in closet into a small "library" room.

I debated about painting it.
It's this yellow-ish color,
but had some friends talk me out of it.
And I didn't have to antique it at all - - it was already done!
It actually meshes well with the gold in the bedding.

And I'm being very vulnerable right now.
Showing you the mess their closet is.
They really do have way too many clothes!
Thank goodness it closes, right?

{I need more bins that fit those two small cubbies on the right so that
their pj's aren't thrown in there. - - I really do fold their clothes, but this is Reese's
favorite spot to hang out which means clothes are always coming out and I'm too lazy to refold them.}

I'll need to post what the room looks like now with the two of them in there.
You can see what it looked like before, here {as a nursery}.

:: Family Happenings - reese

It will be a sad,
sad day
 when little Reese
grows out of her skinny jeans.

This is by far my favorite article of clothing that she has.

:: Food - easy breakfast

I'm normally a cheerios/raisin bran eater for breakfast.
It's not like they're super unhealthy, but I do know that I could do better.
At least they're not dunked in sugar, right?
I saw this on pinterest and have been wanting to try it.

So, I tried it this morning and was actually pleased.
Now, I know people have different tastes.
You might not like it, but I didn't think it was too bad.
Healthy?  Yes.
Ingredients on hand?  Yes.
Reese was even begging for some tastes
and after her first she kept on coming back for more.
Try it!

1/4 c oats
1 egg
1tsp brown sugar
handful of blueberries/strawberries
splash of milk
dash of cinnamon

-mix it all up, stick in a mug and place in the microwave for 2 minutes

I didn't have the blueberries so I used strawberries we had.
It added the perfect amount of sweetness.
