:: Hosting Thanksgiving - inexpensive tablecloths

You might be in the pickle that I'm in.
You're hosting Thanksgiving and you have a gazillion guests that will be coming.
 {sound familiar?}
The last thing you want to do is spend a ton of money on tablecloths.
Am I right?

Well, I found these tablecloths on Amazon that will be perfect to meet my hosting needs
and they'll also be nice to use for dessert tables.
$12.99 isn't bad at all.

By the way, have I mentioned how excited I am to host Thanksgiving?!
I can finally cross it off my list.

::Thanksgiving Dinner - tablescape ideas

This year we have family coming down for Thanksgiving
and I'm hosting Thanksgiving dinner!
I'm so excited.
It's something I've wanted to do for awhile.
I'll finally be able to cross #21 off of my list!

So, now I'm trying to find ideas for the tablescape.
I'm thinking simple, woodsey and natural.
I love these ideas found below.

:: Happy Thanksgiving!

Photobucket

I decided to hang this chalkboard in our kitchen and had Ava write just a
few things that we are thankful for.
I absolutely love her preschool handwriting . . . and that she's thankful for her hair.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and spend it with those you love.
Happy Thanksgiving!
We have so much to be thankful for!

:: Food - thanksgiving rolls

For Sunday dinner, we went to my sister's place and I told her I'd bring rolls.
Well, I wanted to try out a new roll recipe . . . just using food storage.
I found this recipe here from Everyday Food Storage and it was so delicious!
So if your assignment this Thanksgiving is to bring rolls, try this recipe.
You won't regret it!

Naomi’s Rolls
1/2 C. Sugar
1 Extra-Large Egg (2 T. Dry Egg Powder + 1/4 C. Water)
1 T. Shortening
1 C. Milk (3 T. Dry Powdered Milk + 1 C. Water)
1 t. Salt
4 1/2-5 C. Flour (enough to make a sticky dough) I usually do 1/4 to 1/2 Whole wheat flour
1 pkg yeast (2 1/2 t. yeast), softened in 1/2 C. lukewarm water
Beat sugar and egg. Scald milk; cool. Then add to sugar and egg. Stir in shortening, yeast, salt, flour. Let rise about 2-21/2 hours. Shape, cut, rise again about 1/2-1 hour. bak. (400, about 12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 16 good sized rolls. You may want to double the recipe, as these rolls disappear fast!  Oh, and if you use Dry Powdered Milk, then you don't have to scald the milk!)
And she also has a tutorial on how to make perfectly round rolls.
It's easy and so fast to do!

Also, my sis-in-law is having a week of giveaways on her health blog!
Check it out at Simply Healthful.
I really want to win this necklace here.
Gorgeous.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know I shared this video last year, but I just love it!

Last year I had a very thankful Thanksgiving.
I gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
I got out of doing the dishes, that's for sure.

I am so thankful!

I hope you have a wonderful day and
are able to share this Thanksgiving with the ones you love.

You can tell I'm excited, huh.
Well, there's a first for everything?

Anyway, you can find it here.
Thank you Pioneer Woman!

Oh and I think I'm gonna make her apple pie, too.

Edible Cornucopias

I had posted this last year, but since I probably had 10 followers and since I posted it a few days before Thanksgiving, thought I'd post it again.

Pin It

If you've ever been to my family's Thanksgiving Dinner, I'm pretty sure you've seen these. Ever since I can remember, we've had these at our Thanksgiving Feast. They're edible cornucopias that we make for each place setting. And . . . the best part is that they're really easy to make.

You first want to go to your nearest grocery store and buy waffle cones and any type of candy you want to put in the cornucopias when finished (we usually do nuts, candy corn, m&ms). Also if you have any gorgeous colored leaves you've picked (my mom, usually collects them during the fall and stores them in the refrigerator until thanksgiving - - just for this little place setting), they look great underneath the cornucopia and makes your table very colorful and festive.

You want to fill up a pan of hot water and place a steamer inside (make sure the water line is below the bottom of the steamer or else you're gonna get soggy cornucopias - - out of experience). Then boil.

Once boiling, place the waffle cone inside, place lid on, and count for 30-40 seconds.

Then take it out using a tong and bend the end of the cone so it looks like a cornucopia. Leave the tong in place for about 10-15 second so it stays like that. And you're done! Well, okay, maybe not completely done. You just have to add the best part which is the candy. (parents beware . . . your children might eat this before their Thanksgiving feast . . . I know I do!)
Hope you enjoy them for your Thanksgiving Feast! I'll be linking to the parties below.

Holiday Decorating: free Thanksgiving printables

Jessica, from Craftily Ever After, did it again. She made the cutest Thanksgiving printables that are free. Check them out here. Guess it's time to take down the Halloween ones and put up the Thanksgiving ones.
