::Craft - father's day gift

Father's Day is coming up!
And lucky for you, I have a very easy craft to share.

I've see this pin here and this one here.
Loved them.
I was at Target this morning and saw this cute mug.
Okay, so it's a little small, but it was only $1.50 {the reg. sized mugs were $4} and
I didn't have time to go to a thrift store.

So I brought it home and had Ava write a note to her daddy on it.
The sharpie, supposedly, won't come off if you bake it for 30 minutes.
{haven't tried washing it yet, but hope it works}

I think this is an awesome idea.
So much better than a note that gets stashed at the bottom of a drawer.
He can drink out of this cup for years to come
and always remember his little 4 year old that loved him so much.
{note:  the sharpie against the mug is very slippery, hence the crazy shaped letters}

I think we might do this every Father's Day.

****UPDATE****
  Okay, so the sharpie doesn't work.
  It started coming off when I was rubbing it with water (after it baked).
I did a little more research (what I should've done in the first place) and it looks like you need to buy
a black Pebeo Porcelaine Pen in fine point from Michaels or any other craft store.
Hopefully it will work now.
And following these instructions, it says to let it sit for 24 hours
and then bake at 300 for 35 min.

I'll be linking to these parties here.

This was our Father's Day craft last year.

craft: 10 minute Father's Day gift

Here's a really easy Father's Day gift that your little ones will love to make with you.

Supplies:

- bottle of Root Beer {bought at Target in a six pack for $2.84 - the hubby's been trying to drink them all week long}
- cupcake liner {any color}
- ribbon {I used brown but really wanted to use a navy blue, but going to the craft store, last minute, with two little girls in tow, didn't seem very appealing to me}
- white and blue cardstock

1. Place ribbon around neck of Root Beer and cross. Where it crosses you want to glue with a glue gun.
2. Take the cupcake liner and scrunch it in the middle and then flatten it.
3. I was in the process of making a printable for the writing {world's best POP}, but for some reason, our printer's not working . . . so handwritten it is on white cardstock.
4. The white, circular cardstock glued to dk. blue, circular cardstock - slightly larger. Then glued to middle of flattened cupcake liner.
5. Glue cupcake liner to ribbon {where it crosses}
and you're finished!

He's definitely gonna love this!

I'll be posting to the linking parties here.

Craft Obsession: Father's Day cloth napkin

I was in a boutique a few months back in Newport Beach and saw the cutest paper napkins for Father's Day. They had printed a tie on the paper napkin. I thought this would be pretty easy to recreate on a cloth napkin, and it was.

Have you seen those baby onesies with the appliqued ties on them? Basically the same concept . . . just on a larger scale.

The supplies you need are:

1. a cloth napkin
2. material for the tie
3. wonder-under (or anything similar - I bought mine at Joanns)

other supplies: sewing machine and iron

1.Have your supplies out and create your pattern. (I used one of my husband's ties)

2. Using the pattern, cut out the material.

3. Following the instructions of wonder-under and attach it to the fabric

4. Iron the fabric/wonder-under onto the cloth napkin (using a damp cloth on top of the material and steam iron)

5. The tie is now attached to the cloth napkin, but to reinforce it, you'll want to just sew a straight line or zigzag stitch around the tie.

And you're done! You just have to give it to your father/husband. (Now really, I'm sure your hubby isn't so messy when he eats that he needs a huge, ole napkin on his chest or maybe he does, but it's a fun idea for Father's Day. ** If I were to do it again, I'd make the tie a little bit shorter)

If you want to add a little personalization, have your kiddos write a special note to him on the cloth napkin using a permanent marker or maybe put their handprints on it.
